The Five Games of Christmas

The holiday season is approaching and it's time to get ready for the big Christmas stream. Here is 5 of my "Games of Christmas Past" to while away the time before you get caught up in the holiday hustle:

Game 1: Satan Clause 
What could possibly conjure up the Christmas spirit better than sleighing (get it?) droves of undead elves, reindeer, demented Christmas presents and the evil old elf himself: Satan Claus? I’ll tell you what, someone playing this instant holiday classic poorly.

Game 2: Snowball 
Now here's some Christmas gaming the whole family can play: Snowball! by Pixeljam. This is a nice, easy to pick up and play pinball game with a pixelly-wintery theme. Goes great with some hot cocoa. This was originally an online game, but now you can use your gamepad if you would prefer to play from your couch.. You know, with the family. Windows and Mac.


Game 3: Overlord 2
More Christmas Demons. What can I say? There's really not a much better way to spend Christmas Eve than hurdling evil green monsters at small children hiding in snow forts.




Game 4: Super Snow Fight
Want more Christmas? I'll give ya more Christmas! This time we take a look at Super Snow Fight: A top-down multiplayer slagfest for Windows. Relive the good old days of using your younger brother as target practice in this great little indie Gem.



Game 5: Viscera Cleanup Detail: Santa's Rampage 
For the final game of Christmas let's go full bore! Santa has cracked under pressure and gone on a mad killing spree. It's up to you to clean up the mess in Viscera Cleanup Detail: Santa's Rampage!

I love reviewing retro gaming hardware. This stuff comes from a time when there were few standards and the expectations were mostly unknown.

A Change in Venue

For the past year or so I have been using this site to post tech-related information for unusual problems that I had a hard time locating answers for. I considered it a great way to share things that I learned while improving the documentation skills that I need to function as a Network Administrator. The problem is that I now do this type of writing on a weekly, if not daily basis and it gets predictably boring covering the same topics over and over again: Which is why I spend so much of my free time producing the Guys Games and Beer podcast and running my gaming channel.

While I plan to keep posting the occasional tech video or Ubuntu tip it occurs to me that this site would be a lot more active if it became an extension of my gaming geekery, and so it shall. I know that some of you who used to read this blog were saddened to see gaming subjects removed from it, so I hope that you will be thrilled that the "fun stuff" is returning.
